In this assignment we had to take photos in a category for the third week. I chose to do landscape/ nature and took a mix of both type of photos. Shutter Speed: 1/ 400 ISO: 3200 Aperture: f 6.3 I did a slight levels adjustment and increased the brightness a little. In this assignment I learned how to use my camera better and take photos in different lights. Since I was outside, the lighting kept changing as the sun set. I had learn to adapt and change my camera settings accordingly. I also learned how to use manual mode better since that's what I had my camera on for most of the photos. It was fun to take landscape photos, it's something I haven't really done before.

In this assignment we learned how to use photoshop to retouch photos. We used several different tools in photoshop to make a photo of a car look like the demo photo. Before After Retouched car 2 Before After In this assignment I learned about a lot more tools in photoshop. I didn't know that you could use the clone tool to naturally brush out imperfections or unwanted spots. I also didn't know that you could completely brush out the background to make it one solid color. I feel like I could use what I learned in this assignment later, maybe if I choose to do still life/ product for one of my photo weeks.
In this assignment we were supposed to choose a category to focus on and take multiple photos of. I was initially going to do shadow but, that didn't work out so I did portrait instead. f 2.8 Shutter speed: 1/8 IOS: 400 I increased the brightness a little and added a little more exposure. During this assignment I learned a lot about portrait photography. It was hard to take photos of a moving subject, even if they were trying to stay still. Many of my photos were blurry so it took a long time to get a good amount. This week I was going to do shadow but it was cloudy most days so I decided to change my topic. This made it hard to take a variety of photos since I switched midweek. It was also interesting to try and take candid photos of the person while they were trying to act natural with a camera in their face. Overall it was challenging but fun.
In this assignment we used photoshop, for the first time, to make pop art using photos of ourselves and ones we've taken. This assignment taught me many things that I didn't previously know how to do in photoshop. It taught me how to use certain tools like the ruler and hue/saturation to make it easier to align things or change the image you're working on. Also, I learned how to put an image on to a different photoshop canvas as a new layer. I also now know how to resize the canvas and change the hue of an image to make it a completely different color. All these things are ones I didn't know you could do in photoshop and expanded my knowledge of the tool.
This week I want to do SHADOWS. I have been walking to and from school and I've been noticing how early in the morning the shadows change how things look. I think it would be cool to capture some of the things i've seen. I also would like to get better at taking more creative photos, which I feel like I could accomplish with this category. Like in the pictures below, I want to use shadows to add depth and another element into my photos.
For this assignment we had to go out and take photos focusing on one type of photo for example animals, shadows, events ect. For mine I chose macro. f/ 5.0 IOS 200 Shutter Speed : 1/4000 From this assignment I learned how to better use my camera to capture the details in photos and work in macro mode. It was surprisingly easy to get close up photos of things. It was hard to not get shadows where you don't want them, and make sure everything you wanted to be was in focus but everything else wasn't. It was also hard to make sure you and the subject were still do the details were in focus. I found quite a few photos where the photo was blurry or the wrong thing was focused on. It was interesting to see the difference in things when you got close up to them.
For my first photo assignment I want to focus on MACRO. I want to see what types of things i can emphasize in my photo that you don't usually see. I feel like it would be cool to try and bring out the texture of something that you don't often look too closely at. In a lot of the images below you see things that you often look at but don't notice the details of. For my first photo I think I would like to try and take photos of nature and things around me that I could capture more closely.
Shutter Speed1/10 1/20 1/40 1/80Through using a higher shutter speed I was trying to freeze the subject in my photo. We can see that when the shutter speed was 1/10 the subjects a blur, and you can't really see her clearly. In the last photo with a shutter speed of 1/80 you can see she is frozen and you easily see the details of her person. Aperturef2.8 f3.5 f4.0 f5.0With a higher aperture I was hoping to get a longer depth of field. In the first photo with an aperture of f2.8 you can't really see that clearly beyond the first stool. In the last photo with an aperture of f5, even though you can't, you should be able to see the stools further down with more clarity. 1. Fast shutter speed means letting less light in which means less exposure. It is also used to freeze motion. 2. A slow shutter speed lets more light in meaning more exposure. It also adds more motion blur to the image 3. A large aperture lets more light in which gives you a higher exposure. It also gives you a shorter depth of field. 4. A small aperture lets less light through, that gives you less exposure but a larger depth of field. In this assignment we learned how to use a camera properly to take good photos. A part of that was learning about photo composition such as rule of thirds, framing, balance, ext. We took notes about each different category to learn more about them. After that we went out into the school to try and get the best photo possible for each composition. Rule of ThirdsPatternSymmetryTextureDepth of FieldLinesFramingPerspectiveSpaceBalanceColor |
