Throughout this tri I liked taking photos of people the most. I liked all the assignments where we could do different types of portraits like environmental, self, and silhouettes. It was interesting to be able to capture different emotions and moments. I also liked trying new things like silhouettes and HDR where I could take photos of whatever I wanted and got to play around in photoshop a little bit. I kind of struggled on the actual photoshop assignments, not necessarily because they were hard, the execution just wasn't always what I wanted. For the photo weeks I liked talking macro photos and black and white best. I liked how in macro you could see the details fill up the frame, and they usually turned out pretty well. With black and white I just liked how a photo was transformed and seemed to get a different vibe when you put it in black and white plus the contrast really made the photos stand out. Doing light painting was also cool. I had a little bit of a hard time painting subjects at first but I got a few good photos.

For this assignment we had to pick a photo category to shoot for. I chose black and white. I did some editing to the photos to bring out certain values and create contrast. This week I shot black and white. It was pretty easy because a lot of more minimalistic shots looked really good in black and white. When I was editing, I boosted the contrast in photoshop for a lot of the photos because the higher contrast really highlighted the elements of the photo. I feel like the busier photos look a little more muddled then the more simple ones so I tried to keep the photo subjects simple.
For this assignment we had to pic a category to take photos for and this week I chose light painting where you use a very long shutter speed and use light to draw designs which imprint's show up once the photos done. This shoot was fun but hard. When I tried using subjects the painting didn’t come out as well. It was also hard to figure out how much light I should use to do the painting. However, I liked making designs with the light. I also tried experimenting with using more than one light source.
For this assignment we had to start with making. a polaroid collage and then we had to pick 4 other tutorial to do in photoshop. I had a hard time with a couple of the tutorials but my favorite was the girl looking out the mirror. I don't think it turned out that great, but it was fun to put the pieces together and then be able to use my creativity and draw what I wanted on her face to give it kind of a halloween vibe. I learned about some new uses for tools in photoshop like the ones used to make the glow effect and merge the two photos.
For this assignment we had to pic a photos category and I chose macro, taking photos up close. The hardest part of this shoot was getting everything in focus and trying not to create shadows. I liked doing this shoot because seeing everything up close at different angles was very interesting. Natural lighting worked best when trying to get clarity in the photo.
For this assignment we had to take four self portraits reflecting us and two photos of other people in their natural environments I liked taking photos of other people. It was fun to try and capture them in an authentic moment. I found it hard to do the self portraits. Sometimes it was hard to execute an idea well but for some of them I didn't know what would be a good self portrait to take.
In this assignment we took 3 photos of the same subject with varying exposures and merged them using photoshop to create 7 HDR images. I liked using the different photoshop filters when making them. It was kind of hard to take the photos and not move too much, but I like how the first one with the ghosting came out.
This week I chose to shoot still life/ products. It was hard to make the lighting work out without casting shadows on the product and still make it look interesting. Setting up the products how I wanted was a little difficult because then certain angles didn’t look as good or it didn’t look as professional.
