For the 6th week in the row we chose a topic to take photos of. This week I chose black and white. f 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/60 ISO: 160 This week taking photos was really easy considering I didn't really have to. I looked through old albums and picked photos I hadn't used that I thought would look good in black and white. It was kind of hard to make sure the color didn't looked washed out. I did a levels adjustment on most of the photos and made some hues lighter and others darker. Overall it was fun to play around with the photo to make it look the best in black and white.

In this assignment we were supposed to find an open area to take photos in. You were supposed to either set a timer and take a picture of yourself in various places in the space or have someone pose in different places. Then we were supposed to go to photoshop and combine the photos so there were multiple of 1 person in the photo. In the assignment it was hard to pose other people in positions that wouldn't overlap too much in the end. I had a couple photos where there was too much overlap so one pose was covered by another. It was also fun though to go out and pose in crazy positions. I also learned how to better use the lasso tool to outline things and the layer mask to help conceal. It was useful to be able to conceal with black and reveal with white in case you didn't outline the person well enough and had to retouch. It was overall a fun assignment.
For this assignment we were supposed to take a picture of any part of the school and pick a theme. We photoshopped things that related to the theme into the photo, adding details like shadows to the objects. Or, seemingly changing the weather using a photoshop tool by doing things like adding filters. Through this assignment I learned to better use several tools. In photoshop I now know how to transform an image and manipulate only the transformation to blacken it and then lighten it into a shadow. I also have a better knowledge of filters and using the brush tool to make in seem like there was a weather change in your photo.
This week it was the 5th week of taking photos of a certain theme or subject. This week I chose to do shadow and light for my topic. f 7.1 Shutter Speed 1/125 ISO 100 For editing I used the brush tool to make the background darker and played around with exposure, contrast, and levels. This week I thought it was fun to take photos of shadow and light. I tried showing the light in different ways like in nature, on people, and in still life. It was hard to take photos sometimes since it wasn't always sunny of there wasn't natural light. I liked being able to manipulate the shadows sometimes to make the photo more dynamic or interesting.
We were supposed to pick a topic to take photos for the 4th week in a row. This week I decided to do light painting. This week I chose light painting. It was hard to set everything up right and make sure your surroundings were dark enough. When painting the person I had trouble painting only her and not getting things I didn't want in it. It was also hard to make sure my shadow wasn't in the photo. In the end she was a little out of focus on all of them since the shutter was open for so long, but the experience was really fun to do over the weekend.
In this assignment we took several photos standing in the same place rotating to take in a landscape. We put the individual photos together in photo merge to make a panoramic photo. It was cool to learn about a different tool in photoshop. It was interesting to see how a pano would come up messed up with one type of pano and would work with another. I think that the type I liked the best was college or cylindrical. They seemed to work the best and came out with best panoramas in my opinion. It was a lot of trial and error. Surprisingly, I didn't find it that hard to take and line up the photos even without a tripod.
In this assignment we had to take photos in a category for the third week. I chose to do landscape/ nature and took a mix of both type of photos. Shutter Speed: 1/ 400 ISO: 3200 Aperture: f 6.3 I did a slight levels adjustment and increased the brightness a little. In this assignment I learned how to use my camera better and take photos in different lights. Since I was outside, the lighting kept changing as the sun set. I had learn to adapt and change my camera settings accordingly. I also learned how to use manual mode better since that's what I had my camera on for most of the photos. It was fun to take landscape photos, it's something I haven't really done before.
In this assignment we learned how to use photoshop to retouch photos. We used several different tools in photoshop to make a photo of a car look like the demo photo. Before After Retouched car 2 Before After In this assignment I learned about a lot more tools in photoshop. I didn't know that you could use the clone tool to naturally brush out imperfections or unwanted spots. I also didn't know that you could completely brush out the background to make it one solid color. I feel like I could use what I learned in this assignment later, maybe if I choose to do still life/ product for one of my photo weeks.
